Hope Gibson Powell, wife of Rick
Powell, passed away on Sunday, Feb 24. Hope and Rick were previously members
of IVFD and Rick is a MEDIC employee A
memorial service will be held at Idlewild Christian Church, 8005 Lawyers Rd
on Thursday, Feb 28 at 7:00 PM. Please
keep Rick and Hope's family in your thoughts and prayers. |

scheduled on Thursday 03-20-08 at Mint Hill Middle School. Anyone interested
in attending should be at station by 0800 in Class B. Contact for IVFD is

New chain saws will be put in
service on Eng 1 and Eng 3 on Tues, Aug 5.
These are all-purpose saws and will replace the old chain saws and
vent saws. Do not use until you have
received proper instruction. |

Per I-10, the # 2 crosslay (ORANGE HOSE) on Engine 3 has a
smooth bore nozzle pre-connected. Please make note of this for your future

Responder Con-Education Program, there will be NO classes during the months of May and June. Please refer to
the updated Training calendar on the website. There will be an online class
on Thoracic Trauma for those persons missing the classes in April, the class
will begin on May 5th and a completed In-class registration form needs to be
submitted. The class number for the class is EMT 7351 831 and the form can be

Paid Staff -- Please welcome Will Sanburg and Brad Duncan as new part-time
paid firefighters. Both Will and Brad
are career firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department. They will both be working their first shift
at IVFD this week. |

Medcenter Air, use of the landing zone strobes is still encouraged to mark
landing zones at night. Earlier
information that the strobes should no longer be used is incorrect. The LZ strobes are currently carried on

2008 Firefighter Applicant Written Exam will be held at the Charlotte
Convention Center on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Registration for the written exam will open
at 8:00 am on January 7, 2008 and will close on February 4, 2008 at 5:00 pm. |
